Despite continued reminders that the coronavirus pandemic is not over, crowds continue to gather to protest the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Gov. Jared Polis addressed the risk that protests could spark another coronavirus outbreak Tuesday, encouraging anyone who has attended a protest to visit the Pepsi Center to get a free, drive-up coronavirus test even if they aren’t showing symptoms.

Hospitalizations for COVID-19 in Colorado fell to their lowest level since late March and the number of new cases remained relatively low as of Tuesday, but deaths directly linked to the new virus jumped.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment reported 211 new cases of coronavirus for a total of 26,788 cases statewide with 268 people currently hospitalized. The total number of deaths among people who had COVID-19 increased by 16, to 1,474.
