Man dies in rafting accident on Arkansas River near Royal Gorge

No other people were injured

A man died Friday after he fell out of a raft on the Arkansas River near Cañon City, according to local authorities.

Deputies were sent to the accident near the Royal Gorge at 6 p.m. The man, whose name has not been released, struck his head when he fell out of the raft. He was in his 50s, said Derek Irvine, undersheriff for Fremont County.

There were no other people injured, he said.
