Denver weather: Heat lingers on Thursday before a Friday cool down

Another hot afternoon is expected in northeastern Colorado with a chance of thunderstorms in the mountains and on the Eastern Plains.

In Denver there’s a 30% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 3 and 4 p.m., and the high temperature will hit about 93 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Skies, before the afternoon weather, will be sunny.

Thursday’s stormy weather could be windy, with gusts up to 50 mph, and relatively dry with mainly light rainfall.

Friday will be cooler across the region but a chance of thunderstorms remain.

Skies in Denver will be partly sunny on Friday. There’s a 70% chance of precipitation with the likelihood of showers and thunderstorms increasing as the day progresses, the weather service said. The forecast high temperature is 79 degrees and winds will gust up to 17 mph.

On Saturday skies will be mostly sunny in Denver, although there is a 20% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. The high temperature will be about 89 degrees.
