
With the start of the Major League Baseball season postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, we here at The Denver Post took a look at how the Rockies would fare in MLB The Show 20 on PlayStation 4. We will have a story for every game that had been scheduled until real-life baseball returns. Here’s a look at the virtual Rockies’ preseason preview. Entering Monday’s game, the Rockies were 55-28.
PITTSBURGH — New city, same loss.
For the second straight game, the Rockies lost in extra innings on the road after reliever Yency Almonte gave up a hit that drove in the winning run. This time it was a 5-4 defeat to the Pirates Monday at PNC Park.
Almonte (3-3) gave up a single to Colin Moran, who drove in Bryan Reynolds for the winning run.
Colorado garnered the early lead after Nolan Arenado hit a solo home run in the first inning. The Pirates would come back to take a 4-1 lead, capped off by a three-run homer by Gregory Polanco off of starter Kyle Freeland in the sixth inning.
The Rockies would push it to extras after late-game heroics by first baseman Daniel Murphy, who hit his own three-run blast off Keone Kela in the top of the ninth to tie it at 4-all.

With the loss, the Rockies’ (55-29) National League West lead drops to 6 1/2 games over the Dodgers (49-36). Colorado and Pittsburgh (36-48) play against Tuesday. Chi Chi Gonzalez (3-5) takes the mound against Pirates’ Mitch Keller (3-5).
