At a time when city buyers are showing unusual interest in properties that are decidedly less urban, itap surprising how much more space, privacy, and scenery you can find as soon as you push into Jefferson County just beyond the hogback.

The Dakota Hogback, which forms a sharp ridge that runs north-south for tens of miles west of urban Denver, hides a few low-density, very scenic communities, including Willow Brook, just west of the ridge on W. Belleview Ave., where three agents with Red Rocks Team at Your Castle Real Estate will show you a walkout ranch thatap only six minutes from shopping and C-470, but has gorgeous views and lots of privacy.

“Buyers want elbow room that you can’t find in Denver,” says Todd Houghton, who with Jackie Yost and Kathleen Hanvey already see interest in 6010 Crestbrook Drive, coming on the market this weekend. Within a mile-as-the-crow-flies from the dense urban perimeter, the valley below the home’s 1.7 acres is so devoid of homes that one owner is flying an airplane in there on a private road.

Yost notes that the vast part of the view is managed by the county and by the Ken-Caryl Ranch HOA. You’ll see a 4-bedroom 1990s plan by Palisade Homes showing 4,500 sq. ft., plus a wraparound deck with koi pond below, and a 3-car-plus garage. The price is $1.178 million; and the agents have neighboring properties to show you on open space from only $650,000.

The news and editorial staffs of The Denver Post had no role in this postap preparation.
