An 8-acre grass fire on the south side of Cherry Creek State Park on Thursday afternoon likely was sparked by a hot bullet from a nearby shooting range, according to fire investigators.
Update – The fire is 100% contained at 8 acres. No structures damaged and no injuries. Investigators are on scene working to determine the cause. Thank you to and Fire Dept. for mutual aid assistance and Rangers for all your help.

No one was injured and no structures were destroyed in the fire, which has been 100% contained, according to South Metro Fire Rescue.
The Family Shooting Center, a full service , is operated at the park.
