Agencies are responding to yet another Colorado wildfire on Friday afternoon, this one burning an estimated 1,300 acres on the south end of the Williams Fork Valley in Grand County, officials confirmed.
The Williams Fork fire is burning through timber on the U.S. Forest Service land, said Schelly Olson, Grand County spokeswoman.
Campgrounds in the area including Sugarloaf Campground and South Fork Campground are under mandatory evacuations, according to
County Road 30 is closed around County Road 3, except to mill traffic, according to Grand County Office of Emergency Management. The east side of County Road 50 is also closed.
Agencies responding include Grand County EMS, Grand Fire, Kremmling Fire, the Henderson Mill Emergency Response Team, U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management.
Heavy air tankers are en route, Olson said.
The Williams Fork Fire is one of at least four wildfires burning throughout the state.
The Grizzly Creek fire burning in Glenwood Canyon doubled overnight to 14,663 acres, forcing more evacuations.
The Cameron Peak fire in Larimer County has burned more than 4,600 since igniting Thursday. Authorities are asking outdoor adventurists to avoid Poudre Canyon, Red Feather Lakes and other recreational areas near the blaze.
The Pine Gulch fire burning outside Grand Junction grew to 73,381 acres overnight, making it the fourth-largest wildfire in Colorado history.
