Several power outages were reported in Aurora on Tuesday, including one that impacted about 5,000 residents.

Streetlights were down in parts of Aurora, police reminded drivers to treat downed intersections as four-way stop signs.

Areas without power included: East Colfax Avenue and Peoria Street; East Alameda Avenue west of Peoria Street; Billings Street west of Sable Boulevard; East 28th Avenue near Havana Way.

Aurora Fire Rescue on Tuesday put out a fire on an energy pole in the 1300 block of Peoria Street. No injuries were reported.

Michelle Aguayo, an Xcel Energy spokeswoman, said the pole fire started the outages, and other areas were temporarily taken down as a safety precaution and as part of the restorative process.

Xcel energy crews restored power to the areas just after 1 p.m., about an hour after the fire, Aguayo said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
