A man who allegedly broke into a Greeley residence was shot by the homeowner, police said.
The incident happened at about 6:40 p.m. Sunday in the 1200 block of Sixth Street, according to police.
Officers responded to a 911 call about a break-in and a subsequent shooting. They arrived to find 25-year-old Reynaldo Francisco lying inside the entryway of the residence suffering a gunshot wound to the leg, according to a news release. He was taken to a local hospital.
Francisco entered the multi-family residence through the front door and was “asked to leave multiple times” by the homeowner, police said. Francisco allegedly attacked the homeowner, who drew a gun from his waistband and shot the alleged intruder. The homeowner called 911.
Francisco was released from the hospital and arrested. He has been charged with third-degree assault and first-degree burglary, police said. An investigation is ongoing.
