A 26-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of his 78-year-old father.
Jorge Francisco Hernandez-Escarena has been charged in Adams County District Court, according to a district attorney’s office news release.
On Dec. 8, Benigno Hernandez-Moreno suffered a fatal head trauma at his Commerce City home, 5521 E. 65th Ave., the release said.
Officers responding to a report of a disturbance found Hernandez-Escarena outside the home jumping on top of a vehicle parked on the street. He made a “statement” and was arrested, police said.
Hernandez-Escarena has been advised of the charge against him. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 29.
