More snow fell across Colorado overnight, bringing totals across Denver to several inches over the past few days. The previous precipitation and the fresh storm have made for a challenging commute Tuesday morning.
The Colorado Department of Transportation has plows out clearing roads. Snow remains on some highways, but most in the metro area are just wet.
Berthoud Pass on Highway 40 has been slowed to 20 mph with snow-packed roads.
Interstate 70 going west in the mountains is slowed down. Speeds under 20 mph have delayed a portion of the highway from Beaver Brook through US Highway 6 to Idaho Springs.
Further up the road on I-70 west, the road was closed due to a crash at the Eisenhower Tunnel. That stretch of highway reopened at about 10:45 a.m., according to CDOT.
A crash on Highway 285 north did slow movement from University Boulevard to Interstate-25 but has been cleared.
Interstate 270 eastbound from Interstate 76 to I-25 had minor delays as traffic backed up there. Now is clear.
There was also a crash at Alameda Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard.
Two crashes delayed I-70 eastbound through downtown from Pecos Street through I-25 to Brighton Boulevard earlier in the morning. Those are each cleared and speeds are normal.
Despite the slick conditions, there has only been one major road closure so far Tuesday. That closure is of I-70 just before 10 a.m.
Motorists can expect roads to be icy in some spots this morning: Remember to allow yourself that extra stopping distance and give snow plows room to work. Stay warm and safe, !
