UP: “D” on the helmets. The way it should be — the “D” on the Broncos’ helmets for their color rush/throw-back look. Bring it back permanently, Broncos.
DOWN: Color-rush uniforms. The Broncos broke out their orange jerseys/orange trousers uniform combination. Yuck. Their best look is blue jerseys/white trousers, followed by white/white, orange/white and blue/blue
UP: Kendall Hinton in Canton. Practice squad receiver Kendall Hinton, who filled in at quarterback during the loss to New Orleans, will have his play-call wrist-band on display at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Forty-nine plays were listed, (line No. 46 was left open), including “Gun Double RT Clamp Cross 2 Jet Cougar” (Play Line No. 1) and “Gun Double LT Off Sprint 16 Spin” (Play Line No. 50).
DOWN: 30 yards and seven points. After three consecutive penalties, Buffalo had first-and-goal from Denver’s 30-yard line late in the second quarter. Two plays later Buffalo scored
UP: Going long. Broncos’ snapper Jacob Bobenmoyer hustled downfield to recover a fumbled punt by Buffalo’s Andre Roberts. That fumble led to Denver scoring a touchdown.
DOWN:Road game hard count. Twice in the first quarter, Bills quarterback Josh Allen used hard counts to get Broncos to jump off-sides. First, Jeremiah Attaochu and then DeShawn Williams. The benefit of having an empty stadium.
UP: Lock to Fant. Denver’s scoring drive in the final minute of the first half, culminating in a dart from Drew Lock to tight end Noah Fant with 5 seconds left. Gorgeous throw.
DOWN: Demar Dotson/Sylvester Williams. Signed early in training camp (Dotson) and after the season started (Williams), the two veterans were healthy scratches Saturday. The Broncos started Dotson at right tackle for eight games, but Elijah Wilkinson has returned to the lineup. Williams is the odd man out because they want to give rookie McTelvin Agim experience.
UP. Taylor Russolino’s debut.Filling in for kicker Brandon McManus (COVID-19/reserve list), Russolino made his NFL debut.
DOWN: Taylor Russolino’s debut. Russolino missed a 51-yard field goal, wide right, at the end of Denver’s first possession, he missed his two extra-point attempts, and his kickoff to start the second half was awful, leading to a long return.
DOWN: Brandon McManus’ streak. McManus had appeared in every Broncos regular-season game since the start of 2015 (93 consecutive games), but was scratched Saturday after he was deemed a close contact earlier in the week.
UP: Josh Allen. If you love football, you love Buffalo’s quarterback.
DOWN: Giveaways. Lock’s turnover streak continues, as he fumbled when sacked, leading to Hughes’ touchdown. He’s had a turnover in every start except the season opener.
