Officials closed a ramp off Interstate 76 for about an hour Sunday afternoon after a homeless encampment there caught fire, though nobody was injured, a spokeswoman for Adams County Fire Rescue confirmed.

The fire was reported around 3:17 p.m. on westbound I-76’s off-ramp to Interstate 270. A small recreational vehicle that was part of the encampment caught fire, said Fire Rescue spokeswoman Julie Browman. The fire is currently under investigation and itap unclear whether the vehicle had caused the fire.

Itap also unclear how many people had been living in the encampment, Browman said. The site was empty by the time first responders arrived on the scene.

Firefighters knocked down the fire and the exit ramp was reopened by 4:22 p.m., Browman said.
