Getting your player ready...

Most Avalanche players will take Saturday off and all team members will make their own arrangements to get to Ball Arena amid a large snowstorm forecast to hit Denver during Sunday’s nationally televised game against the Los Angeles Kings.

The Avs and Kings are scheduled to begin the finale of their two-game set at 3:30 p.m. Sunday when more than a foot of snow could be on the ground in Denver. The storm is expected to begin Saturday morning and last until Monday.

“We’ll give the guys the day (Saturday),” Avs coach Jared Bednar said after Friday’s 2-0 victory against the Kings. “We’ll have a handful of guys, the injured guys, will hit the ice. Couple of our coaches will go in, but the rest of the guys won’t travel right when this thing is going to get a little crazy (Saturday) afternoon. We’ll keep everyone at home, keep them safe, and you’ll get up as early as you have to to get here for the 3:30 game Sunday.”

The Kings are staying at a hotel near downtown Denver and presumably hoping the team bus can get them to Ball Arena.
