Cesar Chavez Day is being observed in Denver on Monday. The annual holiday which takes place on March 31 — Chavez’s birthday — celebrates the legacy of the civil rights and labor movement activist.
Chavez was an American farm worker, labor leader and civil-rights activist born in 1927.
Parking meters are free in the Mile High City Monday, and most city services are closed.
President Barack Obama proclaimed the holiday in 2014.
