Firefighters teamed up with wildlife officials on Thursday in Colorado Springs to rescue a pair of great horned owlets who were grounded and in peril.

The owlets fell from their nest in a tree and a passer-by called Colorado Parks and Wildlife, said Corey Adler, a Parks and Wildlife manager, .
Firefighters with Colorado Springs Fire Department Station 9 gently scooped up the birds and used a ladder truck to get the pair back into their nest in a ponderosa pine.
The mother owl flew north a short distance during the rescue, Adler said, but she’ll likely rejoin the nest and owlets.
“So far, so good,” Adler said. “We’ll see mom come back here in a little bit and start taking care of them again.”
The owlets should start flying in about 30 days, Adler said.
