The Colorado Department of Transportation said the closure of Boulder Canyon likely will last “several days” as crews worked to remove boulders from the road .

In an email, CDOT said crews were on the scene trying to clear the road and then work to repair the road surface.

While no specific timeline was given, officials said the cleanup would take at least “several days,” and that Boulder Canyon between Nederland and Boulder would remain closed during that time.

Drivers are asked to take alternate routes between Nederland and Boulder, including Colo. 72, Lefthand Canyon Drive, Magnolia Road and Sugarloaf Road.
