The tumult in the weather departments at KDVR and sister station KWGN continues: Longtime Denver weatherman and Colorado native Matt Makens is leaving Channel 2 in a few weeks.
Makens, who is an atmospheric scientist as well, has been in his current role since June 2016.
Just Thursday, he was named for 2021.
“This is bittersweet as I’ll be leaving Ch 2 in a few weeks,” he said about the award on Twitter. “However, this is a great way to ‘head out to another pasture.’ “
The University of Kansas graduate said he will be staying in the area but changing gears. He did not provide any more details about his plans.
Makens spent five years at Denver 7 after getting his start in Kansas.
