At about 10:30 a.m., deputies and firefighters with Golden and Pleasant View fire departments, and Fairmount Fire Protection District, responded to a fire on the 17100 block of Mount Vernon Road, according to the sheriff’s office. One deputy and two firefighters were injured.
“They were trying to get to the person who died but there was too much fire and too much smoke,” said Mike Taplin, a sheriff’s spokesman.
The residence, in the West Pleasant View area, was gutted by the fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
