The Golden native is making her second straight Olympic Games appearance after being part of the 2016 squad that was upset by Sweden in the quarterfinals and finished a disappointing fifth place. She joined Paris Saint Germain in 2012, becoming the first American female player to sign a professional contract out of high school. In 2016, she signed with Portland Thorns FC of the National Women’s Soccer League, helping the team win a championship in 2018 and was named the league’s MVP that season. She has twice been named to the league’s Best XI (2018-19). She was also a member of the U.S. team that won the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. She has recorded 22 goals in 98 caps for the women’s national team.
