One less piece of paperwork is needed for Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles business transactions as part of new federal guidelines.
Coloradans no longer need to supply physical proof of their Social Security number when obtaining a license, permit or identification card, according to a DMV news release.
“Coloradans can now provide their SSNs verbally at driver license offices, and the DMV will continue to verify the information with the Social Security Administration to ensure the data matches,” the release said. “This will ensure SSNs are accurate and match information presented to the DMV.”
The change only affects people applying for a REAL ID-compliant . The DMV encourages Coloradans to use online services, including license and ID card renewals, vehicle registration renewals, paying a traffic ticket, access motor vehicle records and first-time vehicle registration among other services and business.
