The Rockies’ chance to sweep the Braves in Atlanta will have to wait.

Thursday afternoon’s game was postponed because of rain and unplayable field conditions. There was no word on a possible make-up date. The Braves’ announcement said only that the game will be rescheduled for a later date.

The Rockies, who are 5-1 on their current road trip, were looking to win their third consecutive game at Truist Field.

Wednesday night, the Rockies beat the Braves, 3-2, in 10-innings in a rainy game that took 4 hours and 16 minutes to complete.

The Rockies will begin a three-game series at Washington on Friday night. Right-hander German Marquez, who was scheduled to pitch Thursday’s game, will now start Friday’s game against the Nationals.

Finding a makeup date for the Rockies and Braves will be difficult. The Rockies are off on Monday and the Braves are off on Sept. 27. The teams do not have a common off-day before the end of the regular season on Oct. 3. The Braves currently lead the National League East by 3 1/2 games over Philadelphia, so a make-up game might not be necessary.
