It will be windy along the Front Range mountains and foothills on Saturday, with a breezy afternoon in store for Denver.
There’s a 20% chance of showers in Denver after 4 p.m. Saturday, skies will be partly sunny and the high temperature should top out around 55 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Winds will gust to about 15 mph in the city, with 45 mph gusts along the Front Range foothills.
Light snow will fall in the mountains on Saturday, according to the weather service, and diminish overnight. Snow accumulations will be 1 to 3 inches in most areas, with heavier amounts along the Wyoming border. From Rabbit Ears pass northward snow accumulations will be in the 4 to 8 inch range by Sunday morning.
On the Eastern Plains Saturday, there’s a chance of light afternoon rain showers that will extend into the evening, the weather service said. A dusting of snow could fall in higher elevation areas southeast of Denver late in the day and into the night.
Saturday night in Denver there’s a 30% chance for showers, mainly before 10 p.m., according to the weather service. Skies will be mostly cloudy with a gradual clearing and the low temperature will be around 27 degrees.
Denver’s Sunday weather forecast calls for a high temperature of 52 degrees under sunny skies with mild winds in the 5 to 8 mph range.
Dry and warmer conditions are expected early next week with elevated fire danger possible across the foothills, the Palmer Divide and Cheyenne Ridge, the weather service said. An approaching storm system will bring much cooler weather to the area by mid week.
