A new week, a new accolade for Cale Makar.

The Avalanche defenseman on Monday was named the NHL third star of the week for the second consecutive time after tallying seven points (four goals and three assists) in four games between Nov. 22-28.

For Makar, 23, this is his fourth weekly honor. He was also named third star twice in November 2019. His performance helped the Avalanche to a 3-1 record for the week, lifting the team to an 11-6-1 mark (23 points) on the year.

Makar leads NHL defensemen with 1.25 points per game and goals (9). He’s tied for second in game-winning goals (2) and is third in points (20).

Capitals left winger Alex Ovechkin earned first star and Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry received the second star.
