Peyton Manning has been a busy man since retiring from the Broncos following their Super Bowl 50 win, from partnering in a bourbon company to teaming up with brother Eli on “Monday Night Football.”
The Hall of Fame quarterback stopped by “SNL” on Saturday to share thoughts on the NFL playoffs. Or at least he meant to. Showing off his comedy chops, he went on a tangent on a popular Netflix series instead.
“I planned to, but I had an hour to kill before the first game and just for fun, I put on the first episode of ‘Emily in Paris’ season two. And I watched the entire season straight through,” Manning said during the skit on “Weekend Update.” “Oh my God, Colin, this show has everything: romance, adventure, sensuality, culture, a fresh take on feminism — finally — not to mention a culinary tapestry so rich I can only describe it as food porn.”
When asked about Tom Brady’s rumored retirement plans, he responded: “I’m not sure it’s true, I think it’s probably speculation, but if it were me, I probably would retire if it gave me more time to watch ‘Emily in Paris.'”
It’s not the first time Manning has appeared on the long-running sketch-comedy show. He hosted the March 24, 2007 episode, following his Super Bowl XLI win with the Colts. It’s remembered for his United Way commercial spoof where he comes off as a terrible role model for children.
