The Steamboat Springs native is competing in his second Olympic Games. He advanced to the semifinals at the 2014 Sochi Olympics, but just missed the cut to reach the finals. He shattered his kneecap in 2016 that forced him into years of recovery, according to Summit Daily, ending his chances to make the 2018 Games. He picked up his first gold at the X Games in the SBD Superpipe Session in 2020. His sister, Arielle, won bronze in the women’s event at the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics. She announced her retirement in June 2021.
