Stick to sports? Former heavyweight boxing champion Vitali Klitschko is the mayor of Kyiv in Ukraine. So we see how sports and real life can overlap. And after winning a match in Dubai, Russian tennis player Andrey Rublev wrote “no war please” on a television camera.

Kiz: As a kid in Indiana, I relished meals at my grandparents’ house and the sweet smell of kielbasa sizzling in a skillet. I’m immensely proud of my Polish heritage. So I know my late grandfather would be delighted the Polish national soccer team told Russia it won’t participate in important World Cup qualifying against a war-mongering country. “It is the right decision!” star striker Robert Lewandowski declared on social media. “I can’t imagine playing a match with the Russian national team in a situation when armed aggression in Ukraine continues. Russian footballers and fans are not responsible for this, but we can’t pretend that nothing is happening.”
Vladimir Putin is invading Ukraine. How much sports are being played in that country today? Stay in your lane, Kiz.

Kiz: The boxing Klitschko brothers, Wladimir and Vitali, are willing to die fighting in defense of freedom for the men, women and children of Ukraine. As an American, I stand and salute them. Stick to sports? Everybody in the game, from athletes to journalists, must sometimes be brave enough to look beyond the field of play. I make no apologies for that stance. You make apologies for Putin.
One day Kiz says the Broncos must absolutely get Aaron Rodgers to play quarterback, the next day he’s whining Rodgers needs to make up his mind. Mr. Kiszla, maybe you need to take a time out and chill. Don’t you have a dispensary in your neighborhood?

Kiz: Timeout? Only if a can snuggle in bed with my favorite stuffed animal. Yes, I’ve argued for the Broncos to pursue Rodgers in trade. But if it’s OK for Rodgers to wonder if getting married to actress Shailene Woodley is a good idea, is it OK for me and everyone in apountry to wonder if Rodgers has commitment issues? Playing quarterback isn’t a job anyone can do half-heartedly. Either A-Rod is all in about moving to Colorado, or the Broncos have to move on.
I’m retired in San Antonio and have probably watched more Nuggets games on television this season than my kids in Denver. What a shame.

Kiz: The staff here at Kickin’ It Headquarters isn’t particularly bright (as you might have ascertained). So can anyone tell us who wins this never-ending battle between Kroenke Sports Enterprises and Comcast? This bickering has wasted the best basketball years of Nikola Jokic’s life.
And today’s parting shot is from my new agent.
Kiz, I’m so happy you’ve been acknowledged for your excellent work and been named one of the top 10 sports columnists in the United States, right up there with Sally Jenkins of The Washington Post. Wow! I hope you get a raise!
