At least 50 vehicles were involved in six pileups on Interstate 25 in Denver Sunday afternoon amid snowy and slick road conditions.

The crashes closed Interstate 25 northbound between mile markers 205 and 208, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. The highway was reopened at 7:43 p.m., according to Denver police.

The pileups began at about 3:30 p.m. and stretched between University Boulevard and Emerson Street, Denver police Officer Ana Munoz said.

Only minor injuries were reported, Denver Fire Department spokesman Greg Pixley. He said at least 50 cars were involved in the pileups.

“They essentially lost count,” he said. “…I just think it was one big pileup myself.”
