A man was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison for a 2019 shooting death outside an Aurora nightclub.

Alexander Albayero, 46, was convicted by an Adams County jury on Friday of first-degree murder for the death of Juan Manuel Galindo Argumedo, according to a district attorney’s news release.

Early Dec. 15, 2019, Albayero shot Galindo Argumedo outside a nightclub on East Colfax Avenue after the victim had asked Albayero’s wife for a dance, according to the news release.

An enraged Albayero followed Galindo Argumedo outside the club and shot him in the torso with a handgun. The victim collapsed and died at a hospital.

“This was a senseless crime, fueled by anger over a petty slight,” said District Attorney Brian Mason, in the release. “A family has lost their loved one forever – and the defendant will now spend the rest of his life in prison.  This was an avoidable tragedy, and the defendant is to blame.”

Albayero was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
