17-year-old faces murder charge for shooting during cellphone robbery in Northglenn, police say

A 17-year-old defendant faces first-degree-murder charges for a shooting in Northglenn.

About 9:50 p.m. Monday, D’Angelo Trujillo allegedly shot a 54-year-old man in the 11000 block of York Street, according to authorities. The victim was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Trujillo shot the victim when he stole the man’s cellphone, according to police. Trujillo was contacted nearby and taken into custody.

Additional charges against Trujillo, according to the Adams County district attorney’s office, include second-degree murder, aggravated robbery and possession of a handgun by a juvenile.

Trujillo’s next court appearance is scheduled on Monday.
