
For the third consecutive year, the Rockies enter the new baseball season with just one player on .
Outfielder Zac Veen makes his second straight preseason appearance on the list, coming in at No. 36 among the league’s prospects. It’s an 18-spot improvement from his 2021 debut at No. 54. Infielder Brendan Rodgers was the lone player from the Rockies’ system in 2020 at No. 29.
Veen, 20, slashed .301/.399/.501 for single-A Fresno last season with 15 home runs, 75 runs batted in and 36 stolen bases. He’s ranked .
“Though Veen finished his first full season with 15 homers and 36 steals, he might still be scratching the surface of his offensive potential,” according to his scouting report on MLB.com.
Royals infielder Bobby Witt Jr. tops this year’s preseason list, followed by Orioles catcher Adley Rutschmann and Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez.
Colorado closed out the 2021 season with three players on the list with Veen climbing to No. 49 and outfielder Benny Montgomery (No. 93) and left-handed pitcher Ryan Rolison (No. 95) joining the fray. Montgomery and Rolison didn’t make the 2022 preseason list.
