The fatal shooting of a liquor store employee in Aurora the day after Christmas has gone unsolved and police on Thursday asked for the public’s help in identifying a suspect in the case.

At about 10:45 p.m. on Dec. 26, a man wearing a red stocking cap and black ski mask entered Peachwood Liquor, 980 S. Peoria St., and grabbed several large liquor bottles from a store shelf, police said. The man was leaving the store, without paying for the items, when he drew a gun and shot an employee who was attempting to stop the theft. The 57-year-old employee died at the scene. The killer got into a stolen blue Hyundai Elantra and sped off, the vehicle involved has since been recovered.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 (STOP).
