Heavy spring snow could total over a foot in some areas of the high country on Tuesday and into Wednesday, while Denver should get some showers from the storm.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, a cold front will move through the region on Tuesday, dropping temperatures and possibly bringing snow to Denver. The high downtown will be 54 degrees with partly sunny skies. Temperatures will fall alongside a 20% chance of precipitation, starting around 4 p.m. and lasting into Wednesday.

Wind gusts over 30 mph are possible on Tuesday. The low will fall to 24 degrees.

Heavy snowfall and wind could produce whiteout conditions at times in the high country today. Winds near 60 mph are possible south of Interstate 70 on the plains. There are elevated fire weather conditions in eastern Colorado as well.

The 20% chance of snow showers continues Wednesday, when the forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and a high of 45 degrees. Winds could again gust to 31 mph. The low will dip to 25 degrees.

Thursday begins a warmup with a high of 58 degrees and clear skies.

Weekend temperatures in the high 60s are expected.
