An inmate was found dead Tuesday morning in his El Paso County jail cell.
At about 1:15 a.m. the man was “found unresponsive in his assigned cell,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release. Life-saving measures were taken by jail staff and emergency responders with the Colorado Springs Fire Department. The man was pronounced dead at the jail.
His name was not released Tuesday pending notification of family. An investigation into the cause of his death is ongoing.
