The trailer, which was loaded with carrots, caught fire near mile marker 249, the Colorado State Patrol said on Twitter at 8:44 a.m.
Firefighters with Evergreen Fire and Rescue and the Foothills Fire Protection District put out the fire. The highway was reopened, but one lane remains closed as firefighters remain on the scene to assure that the trailer is safe before it is towed away, which is expected to be around 3 p.m. There were no reports of injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
