Around 100 Xcel Energy customers in metro Denver were still without power Monday afternoon after the late-season snowstorm this weekend.
On Sunday night, nearly 2,000 customers were still dealing with outages.
Xcel officials had said on Twitter around noon Sunday that they expected to have most if not all power restored by day’s end.
“We expect to have power restored by the end of the day to all customers affected by the spring snowstorm, as long as their home or business does not have damage that would prevent them from accepting service,” the company said in a tweet.
Approximately 210,000 customers had outages as the snow hit Friday night into Saturday morning, while 70,000 still did not have power as of Saturday night.
As of about 10 a.m. Sunday, around 25,000 metro Denver customers still were without power. That number had been reduced to around 2,000 as of 10 p.m. Sunday.
The heavy, wet snow dropped branches and damaged tree lines across Denver, but hit the western and southern suburbs particularly hard.
“Crews initially focused on repairs that would restore power to the largest number of customers most quickly, such as transmission lines or feeder lines that serve a large number of customers and are working to finish all repair work today,” the utility said in a statement.
