Two climbers were injured, one seriously, and a third was missing after a rock fall and avalanche on Mount Meeker in Rocky Mountain National Park Sunday.

Teams from the park, the Colorado National Guard, Flight for Life and other organizations were helping with the search and rescue. A woman suffered minor injuries and was still on the mountain, park spokeswoman Kyle Patterson said in a statement.

A Colorado National Guard helicopter from Buckley Air Force Base lifted the man from the mountain with a hoist operation, using a winch-operated cable.

A search continued for a second man who was missing.

Patterson said other climbers in the area reported seeing the falling rocks and avalanche at about 9 a.m. The site was reported to be near the Dreamweaver Couloir on Mount Meeker, which is 13,916 in elevation.
