Police in the Denver metropolitan area launched an ongoing investigation into the death of a man after a shooting on Memorial Day near East Colfax.

The fatal shooting occurred in an alley along the 1600 block of Willow and Xanthia streets, according to a by the Denver Police Department published around 5 p.m. Monday. The suspect is still at large, with officers working to develop related information.

DPD contacted the Aurora Police Department late Monday evening about the homicide, as detectives from the latter department’s Major Crimes Homicide Unit will be responsible for the investigation, according to a .

“The details leading up to the shooting have not been determined,” said Sgt. Faith Goodrich, Aurora Police Department spokesperson. “We greatly appreciate the partnership with Denver PD and will continue to collaborate with them on this case.”
