Authorities asked the public to avoid the area. A video clip of the fire released by police on Twitter at 3:57 p.m. showed a wide plume of smoke rising.
A helicopter made water drops on the fire Thursday afternoon, and authorities ordered the public not to fly drones in the area.
DO NOT put up drones in the area of the Lake Minnequa fire. It hinders the helicopter dropping water on the fire.

At 6:28 p.m., the Pueblo Fire Department announced that the fire was contained. Smoke was still a concern in the area, and emergency responders urged the public to stay clear of the area. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
