The Denver Animal Shelter is bringing back Cats on Mats this summer for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

The facility will hold yoga classes with certified instructors while fuzzy kittens and playful cats roam through the room this summer. The program is a fundraiser for Denver Animal Protection, while also introducing everyone to cats that are available for adoption.

Classes will be held at the shelter, 1241 W. Bayaud Ave., on Fridays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., starting June 10 through September. for $20 and classes are capped at 20 people. Everyone is required to bring his or her own yoga mat.

Seated classes for those with limited mobility will be held once a month, on June 10, July 8, Aug. 5 and Sept. 9. They are open to anyone, but the shelter hopes to specifically allow for those who use wheelchairs, have balance issues or prefer to be seated to attend while doing yoga.
