A traffic stop, a keen drug-sniffing dog and an ongoing investigation in northern Colorado led to the seizure of more than 7 pounds of cocaine with an estimated of more than $250,000, authorities said.
Larimer County deputies on Friday afternoon made a traffic stop, and a dog with the sheriff’s office alerted deputies to cocaine in the vehicle, according to a Northern Colorado Drug Task Force news release.
The traffic stop, part of a long-term drug task force investigation, was followed by the serving of a search warrant at a residence in the 1800 block of North Whitcomb Street in Fort Collins, the release said. More cocaine was found.
The combined seizures uncovered more than 7 pounds of cocaine worth more than $250,000, authorities said.
Leonel Perera-Delacruz, 42, was arrested on suspicion of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, among other possible charges. An investigation is ongoing.
