Denver firefighters doused a grass fire near the Downtown Aquarium on Friday afternoon.

The fire was reported at about 3 p.m. in an area just off the South Platte River and Fishback Park, said Capt. Greg Pixley, a DFD spokesman.

A witness who spotted the fire ran into the aquarium and pulled a fire alarm in the building. The fire, in 90-degree heat, swept through trees, shrubs and grass along a path adjacent to the river.

There were no injuries and no structures burned. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
