One teen shot dead, one shot in leg in Longmont drive-by

A 13-year-old boy was killed and a second teen was wounded Saturday in a drive-by shooting in Longmont.

The shooting happened about 1:50 p.m. at Kensington Street and St. Clair Avenue near a basketball court, police said in a news release.

The 13-year-old was taken to a hospital, where he died, police said. A 15-year-old boy who  was shot in the leg also was taken to a hospital. He is expected to survive. Both teens are Longmont residents.

Police have “made contact with a person of interest in this shooting,” the release said. An investigation is ongoing.
