Colorado’s public defenders launch union drive for lawyers and support staff. But there’s a catch.

State law doesn’t recognize labor unions for employees in the judicial branch

The union, which will be affiliated with Communication Workers of America Local 7799, will include lawyers, investigators, social workers, paralegals and administrative staff in the state's 21 regional offices, and 750 to 800 employees would be eligible to join.
