A motorcyclist was injured seriously Friday when the rider hit a moose on  the moose died in the crash.

The incident happened about 6:10 p.m. on Park County Road 62 on the Grant side of the pass, said Sgt. Troy Kessler, a State Patrol spokesman.

The motorcyclist, identified as Adam Lamb, 44, of Colorado Springs, was southbound on County Road 62 while riding a 2016 KTM when he hit the moose in the roadway, Kessler said. The motorcycle then hit a roadside post, and Lamb was thrown from the motorcycle. He suffered serious injuries, including broken arms.

Investigators suspect alcohol and excessive speed contributed to the crash, Kessler said.
