One of downtown Denver’s newest jewelers found a home inside of a historic city landmark: the space of the former First National Bank of Denver in the Equitable Building.
A private jeweler that operates on a reservations-only basis, at 730 17th St. opened its doors in October. The business is tucked into the Equitable Building, which dates back to 1892 and was referred to as “the showpiece of Denver’s thriving financial district” at the time.
“First impressions are everything … and the Equitable Building has surpassed our expectations,” said founder and CEO Morgan Powell. “The building’s detailed exterior draws you in, and as soon as you walk through the door, you can feel the history in the walls.”
Situated in the Central Business District, The Vault features a 2-ton 1890s-era vault door and century-old marble floors.
The Vault offers clients curated visits to peruse the “custom, ethically-sourced” jewelry collections, which are stored inside of the former bank’s vault.
A one-hour “curated personal experience” at The Vault can be for $100, while a 30-minute virtual experience goes for $50.
Denver’s jeweler market has a strong presence in the Cherry Creek area, with Williams Jewelers of Cherry Creek North and Foster & Son Fine Jewelry among the locally-recognized names. Downtown Denver is another hub for the industry, with The Vault competing against the likes of Bulow Jewelers, The Diamond Reserve and more.
