The Board of Education overseeing Jeffco Public Schools voted Thursday evening to extend Superintendent Tracy Dorland’s contract for three years.

After the unanimous vote, Dorland’s contract is extended until 2027, Initially, her contract was set

Dorland, who makes $279,916 per year, replaced Jason Glass as superintendent of the state’s second-largest district in 2021 after the school board chose her Glass left in 2020 to become Kentucky’s state commissioner of education.

Colorado school districts experienced high rates of superintendent turnover during the pandemic, with neighboring Denver Public Schools also losing Susana Cordova. She resigned in 2020 after about two years of leading the state’s largest district.

DPS hired Alex Marrero to replace her in 2021. After just five months on the job, the DPS school board extended his contract through at least 2025, saying it would provide the district with “stability.”
