A former Boy Scout leader, who abused scores of children in Boulder decades ago, has been found guilty of sexually exploiting children by an Arapahoe County jury.

Floyd David Slusher, 69, was convicted on Dec. 9 of sexual exploitation of a child video possession and sexual exploitation of a child possession with intent to distribute, both felonies, according to an .

Slusher was charged in February after an investigation and arrest by the , the release said. He was a registered sex offender when investigators, serving a search warrant in his Aurora home, found multiple videos and movies showing young children being sexually abused by adults.

He was聽convicted of sex crimes twice in the late 1970s and late 1980s, for assaulting young boys and he spent years in prison. In October 2020, Slusher was granted parole and placed on the Colorado sex offender registry.

鈥淭his defendant has a history of sexually abusing children dating back more than 45 years, and it is deeply concerning that he was able to engage in this type of behavior while on parole for a similar offense,鈥� Deputy District Attorney Jacob Kremin said in the release. 鈥淓very time child sexual abuse material is viewed or distributed, the children depicted in those materials are re-victimized. There is simply no place for this conduct in our community, and our Office will continue to pursue convictions against those perpetuating the cycle of abuse against children.鈥�

Slusher also faces two sentence enhancers related to being a habitual sex offender. That trial is set to start on March 20. If the habitual sex offender sentence enhancers are proven, he’ll face a mandatory minimum 36-year sentence.
