Stargazers delight: This week brings a meteor shower, “Earthshine” on the moon, and a star cluster that looks like the Subaru logo

Annual Lyrids shower likely to produce 18-20 meteors per hour

Saturday and Sunday evenings will offer some cool sky-gazing opportunities involving a crescent moon, the planet Venus, the "Seven Sisters" star cluster (also known as the Pleiades) and a bright star known as Aldebaran. The position of the moon each evening is noted by date in the graphic. The event coincides with the peak of the Lyrids meteor shower. (Jeffrey L. Hunt, whenthecurveslineup.com)
