A driver has been ticketed for crashing into an ambulance while it was responding to a call.

Boulder police said the crash occurred at 1:30 p.m. Friday at 55th Street and Arapahoe Avenue and involved an AMR ambulance and a Chevy Impala.

The ambulance had been responding emergent with lights and sirens when the crash occurred. The ambulance did not have a patient, but an emergency medical technician student in the back did suffer minor injuries.

A second ambulance responded to the original call.

The driver of the Impala, a 25-year-old man, was ticketed for careless driving and failing to yield to an emergency vehicle.

Eastbound Arapahoe Avenue and southbound 55th Street were closed during the investigation but have since reopened.
